We treasure the example our children provide of warm and open hearts to the word of God through Jesus. Just look around and you’ll see the many ways they are involved in our church life. At the back of the chapel during Sunday morning worship, a rocking chair holds a mother and her three-month-old child, while a serious 12-year-old carefully reads the Gospel lesson from the pulpit. Above it all, a teenager checks the levels on the microphone and makes sure the sound system works properly.
Children and youth find plenty of opportunities to interact with adults in worship and other special activities, as well as to do their own thing at Cahaba Valley Church. Minister Laura Coulter works with children through sixth grade, who are part of what we call Cahaba Kids, and with LifeGroup, for seventh graders and above.
Each child who is a member of Cahaba Valley has his or her special Prayer Partner among the adults, a person who prays with and for the child and helps the child grow closer to God by spending time together. It’s all part of making every person, old and young, an important part of our congregation.
We also work with our whole community through outreach programs such as Cahaba Valley Players and our yearly Vacation Bible School.
